A fantastic way to spend a weekend or just a day is to go to Milan and visit the newly opened exhibition about Van Gogh. The Van Gogh exhibition takes place in the Royal Palace, in the earth of the city , close by the Cathedral (Duomo).
The exhibition setting has been put in place by Japanese star architect Kengo Kuma and shows more than 50 Van Gogh masterpieces coming from important Museums around the world and from private collections, its main theme is the special relationship the artist had with the nature , and it includes world wide famous paintings such the self portrait.
Tickets can be bought on line and guided tours takes place on Sundays.
My preferred way to go to Milan is by train, some fast trains (Eurocity) travel between Milan and Geneva each day , the first leaves Geneva at 7.42 a.m. and it takes less than 4 hours to get there , if you book in advance tickets are quite cheap (about 30 CHF one way) , although they are not refundable if you change your mind. Regular fare is 96 CHF one way
Once arrived at the train station, take the Metro Yellow line and get off at the stop Duomo.
