A great way to spend one of the next week ends is to go to Alba , a small town in Piedmont, about 3-4 hours driving from Geneva . Alba is a beautiful town in the magnificent Langhe Hills , the town was founded by the Romans and it has a very well preserved medieval city center where each Saturday you can also find a nice markets with hundreds of stalls.
Alba built its fortunes on the White Truffle and it's considered the capital of truffles. Each year the most important event is the International White Truffle Fair which begins in October and ends in November; in this period the city center is full of exhibition stands, where you can see, smell and buy white truffles and also many other products typical from the area such as such as sausages, wine, honey and cheese .
The program of the Fair is full of fantastic activities for everybody , including workshops for kids , cooking lessons from very famous chefs, concerts and various exhibitions ; have a look at the detailed White Truffle Fair Program to see what's on in the coming days /weeks
